The EMIS (Engine Motor Interface System!) module is the brains of the system. It plugs into the OBD II
port and monitors, speed, throttle position, and several other parameters. There are also connections to the brakes and reverse to
ensure the system will not engage unless moving forward. The EMIS allows
you to set an aggressiveness setting 1-10. The higher the setting the more
electrical assist you get but the less the range. I am impressed with the
engineering and coding of the EMIS. Unfortunately I just do not believe
there is enough torque in a 7" motor, the largest that will fit, to make a significant difference with the motor as
part of the diriveshaft.

The EMIS has a plug to read from the OBD port. I
repositioned the port so one does not see the plug when sitting in the
truck. |
|
The EMIS is hidden under the dash above the brake pedal.
While it looks like a bit of a mass of wires they are hidden away. You can
see the wire wrap that goes from under the dash through the firewall to the
motor and controller. It carries the 12V power for the solenoids the
serial connector to communicate to the controller and the temperature sensor
wires. |
|
Another shot of the EMIS unit installed. The bare
connector goes to ground. The other side of the EMIS connects to the
programming unit and has a serial connection to the controller.
Fortunately I am able to hide the unit and the wires up under the dash so
they are not visible.
The EMIS has a list price of $650 and it does it's job well. |

This is the TIM, (Technician Interface Module) that you use
to set the parameters of the EMIS. It also allows monitoring of
voltage, motor amps, temperature and other variables. I am told there
will be an inexpensive display only option in the future.
While the TIM is needed to set up the system it is not needed to run the
EMIS system. |
